Our week at Sand and Surf is something all 20+ of us look forward to and this year was no exception. Walking into the house it was clear to see and feel the wonderful updates that Ed & Barbara put into the home over the winter season. From the new stove and refrigerator to the whole house air conditioning and new furniture - the couch on the front porch was a favorite of everyones! With over 20 family members ranging in age from 1-70+ the house has something for everyone and feels like home the minute we walk in. The kids (and grownups) are already looking forward to next year!

The Sand and Surf was the perfect setting for our parent’s 60th anniversary celebration weekend. The home is stunning, incredibly clean, and the views of the ocean are unforgettable. One of our favorite memories was hosting our own paint-and-sip on the huge front porch while overlooking the water. It was the perfect setting to relax, laugh, and make memories together. Ed and Barbara were exceptional hosts—friendly, responsive, accommodating, and genuinely wonderful people. From start to finish, everything exceeded our expectations. What made this stay even more special is that we were here exactly 10 years ago celebrating my parents' 50th anniversary. It was wonderful to return and create another weekend full of memories with our family. We only hope our next visit comes sooner than 10 years from now!

We chose this property for our family reunion. I am one of 29 first cousins on my father's side. We get together every few years to cherish and honor our heritage. This venue is one of the best we have ever stayed in. The views are stunning. The front porch is to die for. The entire facility was very clean. On the first floor, there are three sitting rooms appointed with comfortable leather couches and chairs. The open dining space was large enough for all of us. The large modern kitchen was well stocked with cookware and dinnerware. It has two refrigerators and two dishwashers. Upstairs the bedrooms were more than sufficient for a good night's sleep. it is close (walking distance) to eateries and souvenir shops. It was not inexpensive, but worth every penny to our group from all over the country. And did I mention the spectacular front porch?

This place is amazing! The view is spectacular, close to downtown action and restaurants! Highly recommended for a larger group gathering!!!

Wonderful spot for our annual ladies weekend. This is our 3rd year at Sand & Surf. Plenty of room to spread out and great spaces for large groups to gather. The porch is amazing. The kitchen is fully equipped. The large dining room table is key. Love the sun room. Cannot beat the view. The house is made for this.

Totally top notch stay. Property is among the best we've visited for 20-member family reunion. Super clean - very well maintained with great balance of modernized and historic. Absolutely amazing site with big porch, great ocean and sunset views. Comfy bedrooms, well equipped kitchen and lots of spaces to gather. Excellent location - walk to beaches and Nubble Light, walk to restaurants/shops/ice cream and easy drives to a range of villages and activities. Excellent!

My family has a vacation situation that leads us to York Beach about once every 5 years with a big group - 24 in all - and few places can hold all of us. We have twice been to the Sand & Surf and love it beyond words! Ed is fantastic, the property is quaint yet modern (as far as kitchen and other amenities) and the beach and town are just a short walk away. I can't wait to return!!

Great home at an amazing location. Plenty of indoor and outdoor space to comfortably sit our party of six adults. The host was extremely quick with communications. Highly recommend.

Absolutely wonderful

Our whole family stayed at this sweet cottage facing the Atlantic and a short walk to Short Sands beach and the Nubble Lighthouse. With eight of us it was a very full house but everyone was comfortable. We were there during unusually hot (90 degrees+) temps in June and made much use of window fans on the 2nd floor where three of the bedrooms are and then the two large air conditioners on the first floor. Even though the temps cooled down at night we still could have used an AC on the second floor for sleeping. Otherwise, every other amenity was provided and the kitchen was wonderful. We all had a great time playing ball on the large front lawn and loved being able to sit in the provided Adirondack chairs at the edge of the ocean out directly in front of the cottage. Our hosts were delightful and available for any questions or needs we had. Bests hosts we've ever had at a rental. We have already made plans to return next year!

Family Get-Away

The property was perfect for us along with adult children. The location was perfect! We loved being able to walk to the beach, town and lighthouse. We had everything we needed. House was very well stocked.

Mother-daughter weekend

My sister and I took my mother to ME for a long weekend and had an excellent experience staying at the Sea View! The pictures don't do the house justice - just the perfect mix of a classic coastal home with modern renovations that give you all the comfort you need. The house was very clean with comfortable beds and linens and a well stocked kitchen. We spent a lot of time on the porch watching the waves. We'd definitely return!

Great Weekend

Really enjoyed the property. Great views of the bay! Everything was as presented on the site and the owner was very helpful with any questions we had.

We loved our time at the cottage! What a perfect setting. I loved sitting in the swing on the back porch and looking out at the water with a book. The cottage was immaculate and the kitchen had everything we needed. Ed was quick to respond when we had questions. It was a wonderful place to spend a vacation.

This house is just perfect! The location can’t be beat — we didn’t use our car all week as it was a quick walk to Short Sands beach and to York Beach city center. Extremely clean and had all of the necessary amenities. Service was impeccable and friendly. This is our second year and we have already booked for next year! Highly recommend

We always enjoy our week in York Beach and staying at One Long Beach properties. The my cottage is well maintained, always clean and well stocked. The location is perfect for going to the beach, shops and restaurants.

We spent a week in June 2024 at the Main House. The property was perfect! Great location...super close to short sands beach and shops/restaurants. House was extremely clean and just as described. Having linens/towels provided made it so easy to pack for the week...loved that there were duvet covers that were washed after each stay.

Another wonderful year at One Long Beach. My extended family and I have been enjoying these cottages for 22 consecutive years. We have developed a wonderful relationship with Ed and Barbara who have always been quick to respond to any problems that arise. This year we numbered 34 staying in the five cottages that has a wonderful common space that accommodates our annual pasta/trivia night. Location is a short walk to short sands beach, arcade and town which allows for some freedom for our teens. Multiple generations continue to enjoy this perfect spot.

A very nice location for a rental. Easy access to both short and long sands. Judging by mattress support, there are three 'adult' bedrooms (a Master suite, a double on the second floor, and a double off the kitchen) and two 'child' bedrooms (a double and a 2x twin). The only critique I have is the driveway: pulling in and out (whether you pull straight in or back in) is a real pain because people are coming downhill around the corner, and they really don't want to slow down because they all want that 'experience' of that turn into Short Sands. Nothing the owner can do about this, but just something to be aware of for when you arrive at the unit: go slow and put your directional on early, and hope anyone behind you goes around you.

From the time I booked until I checked out, I was super impressed with the communication from both Ed and Tamara. As a multi time vrbo renter - I can say this was the best communication and willingness to meet my requests I’ve ever experienced. The house was super well equipped with great appliances. Everything was new and clean and in amazing shape. I would recommend this location to anyone looking to experience all that York offers.

My friends and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the carriage house in York, Maine. It was clean, roomy, and well equipped. Best of all, you can easily walk to Short Sands Beach and to the downtown area. For a slightly longer but still lovely walk, you can go to Nubble Lighthouse (well worth the visit!). At night, if you sleep in the front bedroom, you can hear the waves crashing on the beach. Be sure to eat at the Sun and Surf Restaurant on Long Sands Beach. My only word of caution would be the parking, which is tight throughout York, but Ed, the owner, was very accommodating and allowed us to park a couple of cars in the back as those cottages were empty. My friends and I are hoping to return to the carriage house next year!

Lovely home in a great location!

We took our first trip as a family of 2 with friends in the same boat and the house was perfect for our party of 8. Close to beach, town and playground and walkable to almost everything! Ed was an excellent host and easy to work with. Would definitely recommend and go back!

Family friendly perfect location

We traveled to the carriage house with three families. It was the most perfect location! Steps to the beach and short walk to town made it a perfect location for little ones! We had an amazing time and the house was perfect. Fully loaded with everything we need and very comfortable! Thanks Ed and Barbara! We enjoyed this lovely home and its proximity to Short Sands and great restaurants, coffee shops, the Arcade and York’s Magic Kingdom. Great family getaway.

My husband and I brought our one year old daughter to Maine for the first time and stayed at this property for a few nights. It was the perfect location and we were able to walk to most places or take short drives! The house was exactly as pictured online and even bigger than we needed for the 3 of us. The host was super responsive and accommodating. Hope to return someday!

Ed's cottage was a perfect place to call home for our week-long family vacation in York. We've stayed in numerous places over the decades of visiting York and Ed's was a great mix of old-school York charm with all the modern conveniences for guests, while being in a great location to walk to all that Short Sands provides: beach, Funaroma, ice cream and shops, and Wild Kingdom. From years of experience I don't think Ed's place can be beat for location, comfort, and cost.

We had a wonderful stay at the cottage. Kudos to who does your cleaning. Everything was immaculate. Hopefully we can return again soon. Thanks again.

Our family of 13 enjoyed our stay in Maine! We represented Texas, Chicago and Colorado. Way more room than we needed but everyone had their own private place to stay and fun was had by all!
